First Time to Camp

Last weekend our congregation had its annual family weekend at the camp where Joel and I met. I had gone there as a camper since I was 9 years old and both Joel and I worked there. It is such a special place for us. I have not been back there for probably 10 years. It was really fun to go back and see the camp again and take our girls there. Sophia was great hiker and made it on about a 1.5 mile hike. She loved the camp and running around. She wanted to play in the water at the river. Finally when I let her she realized that the water is freezing because it is water from snow melt. So instead I got to put my feet in the freezing water while holding her. We had a great time in the day.
I do have to say that I think that we all will enjoy the experience more next year because the nights were not so good for any of us. We decided to stay in a cabin this year since Hannah is quite mobile and I thought needed to be confined to a pack and play so she could sleep better. The confined part was good for us but she did not sleep better. The first night Joel was awake 5 times with her in the night. The second night I was at the camp without Joel since he went down the mountain to lead church at home while I led communion service at camp. So it was me and the girls the second night. It didn't go so well. Hannah was awake at 10:15, 11:15, 12:15 at which point I moved her into my sleeping bag. This worked for her but not for me. So at 2:00 I put her back in the pack and play. She went right to sleep and then proceeded to wake up at 2:15. I put her back in my sleeping bag and tried to sleep. At 5 a.m. Hannah decided that she wanted to get up. So I put her back in the pack and play. She did not like this and started screaming which woke up Sophia. Then Hannah threw her pacifiers on the ground. So at 5 a.m. Sophia and I are crawling around on the cabin floor looking for pacifiers. We found one. With all this commotion I had to go to the bathroom (which is in the shower house about 100 yards away). I tried to tell Sophia that I would be right back and she could see me. I walked out of the cabin and she started screaming. So I took both girls with me to the bathroom. We got back from all this and I tried to tell Sophia to lay and rest. She decided that she was not tired and did not want to sleep. No matter how much I tried to convince her that it was dark and she needed to sleep she would have none of it. So I just put Hannah in the pack and play with a bottle and put a pillow over my head. Sophia is just laying in her bed and then all the sudden I hear, "If you happy and you know it clap your hands. If you happy and you know it clap your hands...." I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Then all the sudden Hannah starts to join in with the clapping as well. Sophia managed to entertain herself and Hannah for about an hour and I got a little sleep. Then at 6 a.m. Sophia decided it was light and she wanted to go on a hike. I knew that there would be no more thoughts of sleep for me. So we got up and went to the stream and sat on the bridge.
I got some pictures and when we get our computer up and running I will add them to this post

We've had some nights like that! But not away from home and not when either of us had to lead worship the next day.
Sounds like a great adventure. Can't wait for the pictures. It is a special place.
