We are staying at my parents' house for a few days because Joel and I have a conference we are at in the same town where my parents live. Grandma and Grandpa are watching the kids while we are at the conference. The only problem is that Grandma and Grandpa's house is so fun that sometimes the kids don't get naps because they are so many fun things to do.
Yesterday we were all sitting at the breakfast table and Sophia's eyes were drowsy. So I said Sophia looks T-I-R-E-D. I didn't want to say it because she would protest that she was not tired. I wanted my parents to know it so they would give her a rest that day.
A little while later Sophia and I were in another room and she said, "I know what T-R-D spells." I responded, "What does it spell?" She said, "Tired."
Sure enough she was right. She has been thinking and thinking about the word I spelled and figured it out. We have been working on how to sound out words and figure out how to put together letter sounds into words, but it was fun to see her figuring things out on her own.
Guess that we won't be able to spell words out anymore.
