Two Years Old

Sophia turned two on Wednesday. We had a family birthday party with Grandma Jean and Grandpa Duane here from Colorado as well as Uncle Soren and his fiancee Sarah also visiting from Colorado. Sophia loved making her birthday cake but was a little overwhelmed when she had to blow out the candle.

She knows that it was her birthday and that she is TWO now. She tries to hold up two fingers but can't get it all the time.
She got some fun toys for her brithday from the grandparents and aunts and uncles but only clothes from Mom and Dad.

Mom and Dad got her red sparkle shoes (other wise known as ruby red slippers from Wizard of Oz). Sophia LOVES them and wants to wear them every day. I am not sure how long they are going to last because the red glitter is already starting to wear off the toe.

We went to the doctor for the two year old check up. Sophia weighs 22 pounds 15 ounces which is in the 10% still and she is 35 1/4 inches tall which is the 75-90%. So she continues the trend of tall and thin. Somewhere I read that you can tell how tall a person will be if you double their height when they were two. If that is the case then Sophia will be 5 feet 10 inches and taller than both her parents who are 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches. So we will see.
Developmentally she is far beyond what she is supposed to be doing at two. She speaks in full sentences and most of the time gets the grammar of the sentence correct as well. She is VERY verbal but it takes awhile for her to warm up in new situations. She holds a crayon like the rest of us write and can color in very specific controlled manner. She also is very concerned about everything going back into its place where it came from. I think that she gets that from her Dad. Lately she has been very much into imagination. She climbs to the top of the jungle gym at the church and says, "Let's pretend it is a bridge." Or she wants to change her baby's diaper and she goes to the changing table pretends to get a diaper, brings it back to where the baby is and then pretends to change the diaper of her baby. Her favorite is to pretend to eat the food from books that we are reading. She even shares it with Mom and Dad and we pretend to eat it as well. It is just a lot of fun to be around Sophia and play with her.

I am so happy to see these pictures! Sophia is obviously doing great, and I am excited to hear about Hannah. Congrats on such a great family.
