Sophia has figured out something about cameras. In her first 6 months, whenever we lifted a camera to take a picture of her, she would quit smiling and try to figure out why we weren't looking at her. But now she's figured out that when the camera goes up, she gets more attention if she smiles at it and gives a cute pose! She's quite a character.
At 7 months, Sophia is still happy and healthy (now that we're past that little illness reported in the last entry). She weighs 14 1/2 pounds, and JUST moved into her 6-9 month clothing. We also had to get rid of her first car seat, because she was too long for it (but not too heavy). We've moved her into a rear-facing convertible carseat. Unfortunately, since it sits straight up, she likes to look out the windows instead of napping. A few other developments to report at 7 months:
- "Talking" - At her 6 month checkup, the doctor asked if she was starting to babble, but she wasn't doing much more than her happy shrieking. Now, in the last month she has started "Fa", "Va", and "Ba" continuously.
- Sitting - She can sit up on her own, at least for a little while. Sometimes she gets a little carried away with looking in every which direction and will fall over backward. But for the most part, she'll sit up and play with her toys.
- Crawling - Nope, still not crawling. In fact, I think she may even just skip right over the crawling to walking. We lay her on her stomach with a toy out in front of her to tempt her to crawl, but she usually prefers to roll over onto her back so she can see what's going on around her.
