The other day Sophia and I were sitting at a stop light. She says to me, "Mom, look at all the birds." There were tons of birds on the electrical wire and in the trees around. So I say, "Yes, there are lots of birds." She then decides that she needs the window open at this point (this is her new thing - deciding if she wants her window up or down). I try to explain to her that it is very cold outside, but decide to roll down the window just while we are stopped. Once the window is down she suddenly gets very quiet and then says, "Mom, the birds are singing to me." Then little in a very soft voice she says, "Thank you, birds."
I was just in awe and was reminded how often I am too busy to see the birds on the wire as a gift from God who are singing for me instead of an annoyance which is pooping on my car. If only we could all look at the world through the eyes of a child.

Thank you, Sophia, child after your Mema's heart. Mema never begins her day without looking out the window to see if the birds have arrived at the feeder...OR if Mema has forgotten to fill the feeder. I get very tempted to move to the country even if there is only 1 bathroom our there! "Consider the birds how they neither...." What a great way to begin the day!
