Sophia is now one year old. She celebrated her one year birthday party at confirmation camp. Joel and I both had youth from our churches attending confirmation camp the week of July 23-28. So Sophia celebrated her first birthday with 60 junior high students, 15 pastors and adult leaders, and 5 pastors kids. We went to the doctor this week and Sophia is 30 inches long which is in the 70% for height and 17 pounds 15 ounces which is in the 10% for weight. She continues to be a long skinny kid. She is not walking yet but almost there. She toddles all around just holding our finger and has taken a couple steps from one person to the next or from a piece of furniture to us. The first time I saw her do it was on her birthday. Today she stood for me three times in a row and walked from the chair to me. Very soon she will be walking. I am not rushing anything because then she will be even more mobile than she already is with her crawling. She is verbalizing TONS! The latest is that she plays peek a boo and says "boo" . Many other times she is imitating our words such as Paige or bottle. Her two favorite things to do are to point to things and either say "This" or "That" so that we will tell her what it is and of course go up and down the steps. She is not allowed to do them on her own but she loves to hold the post on the bottom of the stairs and put one foot on the steps when we are standing next to her or hold our finger and go up and down one step at the bottom of the stairs. We have the gates up now on all the staircases because she will beeline to the steps when we are not watching.
